On October 19th 2006 the President of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, officially opened the Musi Hydropower Plant in Curup, Bengkulu.
The 3 x 70 MW hydropower plant will contribute to eliminate power shortages in the southern part of Sumatra and will ensure economic growth. The Austrian company Andritz VA Tech Hydrosupplied the penstock, gates, turbines and auxiliary equipment.
In the past 25 years Andritz VA Tech Hydro has been involved in supplying and upgrading equipment for the Indonesian power sector for more than 2.800 MW which represents a market share of 60 % of hydropower plant capacity in Indonesia.
