World’s largest viscose fiber plant in Indonesia

With a total investment of approx. EUR 520 mn, Lenzing AG is – via its subsidiary PT. South Pacific Viscose – Austria’s largest investor in Indonesia.

In Purwakarta (West Java) the company runs the world’s largest viscose fiber plant, employing more than 1,900 employees working on premises that cover 85 hectars. The annual production capacity of the plant has doubled over the last four years. After inaugurating the fifth production line with an additional nominal capacity of 80.000 tons of viscose fiber in late 2012, total output capacity now stands at 320.000 tons, thus exceeding the capacity of the parent plant in Lenzing/Upper Austria.

Asia is the most important market for theLenzing Group with significant growth. More than half of the total fiber production capacity and fiber revenue is generated on that continent. Indonesia, with its significant textile industry, has seen a continuous presence of Lenzing and significant direct investment since the groundbreaking for the production plant Purwakarta in 1980. Today the plant supplies high-quality fibers for textile and nonwovens use to customers around the globe.
