Largest presence by Austrian renewables at Energy Show

26 March 2015

As a result of the Energy Show 2015 more than €60 million will be generated for renewables. The Show ran from 24-26.3 at the RDS in Dublin and is the showcase for the Irish sustainable energy sector, now worth €1.5 billion in Ireland. 170 companies presented their latest innovations ranging from building management systems and efficient lighting to electric vehicles and renewable technologies. Over 4,000 visitors attended the trade-only event. Austria had the largest exhibition area.

Wilhelm Nest, Head of Advantage Austria Dublin said:" This year we had 13 exhibitors from Austria representing the biomass, biothermal and solar sectors, an increase of 5 on last year. This is a sign that Austrian companies are confident of an upsurge in demand for renewables in the Irish economy. Four of the thirteen companies are negotiating contracts for between €400,000 & €500,000 each with Irish companies."

Speaking at the opening of SEAI’s Energy Show, Alex White TD, Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources said: “The sustainable energy sector is a significant contributor to our economic recovery and it is already supporting 15,000 jobs and this figure is set to increase in the coming years. The Energy Show exhibition has grown 20% on last year, which is testament to the importance of this event on the business calendar and a demonstration that sustainable energy is a vital opportunity for Irish business."
