CORK: IT START-UPS, SMALL BLUE TABLETS AND THE TITANIC

21 October 2015

On this recent trip to the southern metropole of Cork, Wilhelm Nest, Head of Advantage Austria Dublin and Thomas Nader, the Austrian Ambassador visit Pfizer in Ringaskiddy, Cork City Council, Cork Chamber of Commerce and the Titanic exhibition in Cobh.

The trip began with a visit to one of Cork's most fascinating companies - Pfizer in Ringaskiddy, where Lipitor, Ibrance and Viagra are manufactured. Several Austrian chemical companies are suppliers to the Irish pharmaceutical industry which is highly concentrated in Cork and the Munster area. The purpose of the visit was to develop those links further.

The visit to Cork included a meeting with the Lord Mayor and City Manager  and a meeting with the Chamber of Commerice to discuss common opportunities for IT startups and the burgeoning Cork startup scene.

In Cobh, the point from where the highest number of European emigrants embarked for a new life in the United States in the 19th century, the Austrians visited the Titanic Experience.
