Austrian Suppliers to Pharma Industry - Trade Mission to Cork

On 19th and 20th September a group of 11 Austrian suppliers took part in a Trade Mission co-organised by Advantage Austria Ireland and Human.technology Styria.

The aim of the trade mission was to introduce Austrian suppliers to the local pharmaceutical industry in Cork.

The trip was a resounding success with fruitful visits to Hovione on Monday 19th September and Pfizer on Tuesday 20th September. At Hovione, the Austrian delegation got the opportunity to meet with three representatives of various divisions of procurement on a 1to1 level. At Pfizer, they met with a number of a number of procurement mangers but also with representatives of BioMarin, GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson and Novartis.

Human.technology Styria which is a cluster from Southern Austria was also on hand to talk about their activities in innovation, technology transfer (between universities and industry) and supporting local companies.

The Irish industry participants all commented on how the Austrian companies were clearly all of a very high caliber. The Austrians returned to Austria with an improved understanding of operations in Ireland.

As part of the trade mission, a well-attended networking evening took place on 19th Sept at Clarion Hotel Cork. This was with the kind support of Cork Chamber and BioPharmaChem Ireland.
