New quality seal for Austrian online retailers

More transparency for online shoppers

According to a survey conducted by Austrian market research institute IMAS, over one third of Austrians shop online at least once a month. However, just a fraction of customers know where online retailers have their head office.

 

To give online shoppers more confidence, the Austrian Economic Chamber has developed a new quality seal.

 

The aim is to let shoppers know whether they are buying from an Austrian retailer or not - the seal indicates that the head office is located in Austria.

 

This seal is expected to keep more sales in Austria which at present are going abroad.

The research has also shown that 44 percent of Austrians never buy online even if they have internet access. The most active buyers can be found amongst 16 - 33 year olds.
