“The Irish like us because we deliver on time and on budget“, says Roman Fussthaler, M.D. of Umdasch in Ireland and UK, as he proudly shows off the Austrian shop-fitter’s new project called “The Loop“ in Dublin Airport’s swanky Terminal 2.  "I guess that's what's made us Ireland's no. 1 shop-fitter".

Having just completed a multi-million project during the expansion of Terminal 1, Umdasch was in an excellent position to bid for the Dublin Airport Authority’s most ambitious development to date – the 75,000 m2 Terminal 2. A glass and steel construction, T2 is flooded with light and has a capacity for 15 million travellers per year. The extensive shopping area begins immediately past the security section. The new Travel Retail Store has been called “The Loop“ for very good reason.

The shop design is based on a sophisticated navigation system. Along “The Loop“ travellers will encounter the big international cosmetics, perfume and alcohol brands. The ceiling elements are backlit with coloured LEDs, which, in tandem with the light and dark stone floors help the shoppers negotiate the retail area. The ridged band of product categories on the back wall and low gondolas ensure good visibility and quick orientation. Fussthaler is satisfied with the overall look and feel of the fit-out but his own personal favourite is the Irish Whiskey collection.

Umdasch is Ireland‘s no. 1 shop-fitter boasting a string of impressive clients. It completed the shop fit-out for Aer Rianta’s Travel Value stores in Russia, Cyprus and Lebanon. It carried out the ground floor refurbishment for Brown Thomas and provided extensive services to the Guinness Storehouse. Other customers include BT2, Elvery Sports, Best’s, 53˚ North and Meadows and Byrne. Internationally, Umdasch counts Hugo Boss, Tommy Hilfiger, Levi’s, Esprit and Swarovski among its clients.
