On 20.09.2005 the office of the Commercial Counsellor held a convention on “Doing Business with the Austrian Hi-Tech industry” at the Tel Aviv Hilton Hotel. The event was  opened in the presence of H.E. the Austrian Ambassador in Israel - Dr. Kurt Hengl.
More than 100 Israeli Hi-Tech exporters participated in the convention and listened to lectures on ways to promote the collaboration between the Hi-Tech industries of Austria and Israel. The purpose of the convention was to introduce the potential for economical and technology cooperation with the Austrian market, the forming of clusters of Austrian and Israeli companies (with the help of the “Israeli fund for marketing encouragement”) and to share the experience of Israeli companies that already operate in the Austrian market. 
Mr. Franz  Bachleitner – Austrian Commercial Counsellor, presented the activities of the Austrian Commercial Counsellor in Israel,  a special Austrian guest lecture - Mr. Gerhard K. Wagner, Secretary General of VIW (Austrian Association for the Information Industry) introduced the Austrian Hi-Tech market , Austria Economic and business culture and Austria as a gateway to central and  eastern Europe. The clusters program was presented by Mr. Shauli Katznelson - Director of Professional Services Division at the IEICI. Mr. David Hava, C.E.O of M.I.W Ltd. elaborated on the forming of software and communication clusters with Austria.
The cooperation in industrial research and development as a way to leverage business between Austria and Israel was presented by Mr. Yair Amitay - Managing Director of MATIMOP - Israeli Industry Center for R&D. 
At the end of the event, a panel discussion was held– “From the experience of Israeli and Austrian companies in Austria” with the participation of: Mr. Jacob Fass, Director, Corporate projects development at RAD Data Communications, Mr. Andreas Spousta, Sales manager for Austria, Comverse, Mr. Georg Sauberer, Sales Director, Smart Stream, Mr. Shahar Livne C.E.O of the Austrian company LivneX and Mr. Harry Koller, Secretary General of the AICC – Austrian Israel Chamber of Commerce.
The panel and convention were directed by Mr. Shay Yusfan, Executive – High-Tech Division, The Office of the Austrian Commercial Counsellor.
