Ice Park in Eilat boasts largest wood construction in Middle East
Ice-skating in Eilat? This is not the type of sports that comes to one's mind when thinking of Israel's Southernmost city, but it's possible. And the architecture of Eilat's ice park may even add to this unique experience. With a cupola of 105 meters in diameter, it is the largest construction made of wood in the Middle East, and also one of the largest worldwide.
You might wonder how this relates to Austria. No, we did not bring cooler temperatures to the Red Sea, but the Austrian company WIEHAG Timber Construction designed and constructed this most spectacular dome.
WIEHAG is a renowned specialist for architecturally demanding projects and proved time and again that wood can be the best choice when one would consider steel or other materials instead. On your next trip to Eilat, take the chance to take a look at this breathtaking dome and enjoy the result of ingenious engineering and construction.
