Business Location Austria Record numbers of foreign companies move to Austria 4. March 2008

ABA-Invest in Austria (Austrian Businesss Agency – ABA), recorded an above average rise in foreign companies choosing Austria as their business location. In 2007, 201 foreign investors decided on the Alpine Republic.

In a comparison with 2006 (ABA recorded 152 investment projects), the number of company relocations increased to 201 last year. This is equivalent to a rise of around 30%. The investment levels of all companies in 2007 reached EUR 394 m, around EUR 70 m more than in 2006. The resulting 2087 jobs represent a plus of 45% on 2006.

With regard to the nationalities of the companies who chose Austria as their business base, the following picture emerges: Germany – 82 companies, Italy– 22, USA – 15 and pleasingly CEE countries such as Hungary with 7 relocations and Slovenia and Romania with 4 each.

Vienna comes top once again with 105 new business bases (62 in 2006), followed by Carinthia with 28 (7 in 2006) and Lower Austria with 25 company relocations.
