At the end of June Statistics Austria presented the final figures for Austrian export trade for 2007. Austrian exports increased by 10.5% to total an export volume of EUR 114.68 bn. This was also confirmed by figures from Eurostat the statistics body of the European Commission. With export growth of 10%, Austria took the title of “European Export Champion”, along with Germany.
According to Statistics Austria, imports rose by 9.6% to EUR 114.25 bn. This resulted in a positive trade balance of EUR 0.43 bn. From the European Union members, Austria imported goods amounting to EUR 85.27 bn (+9.6%). Exports to the EU totalled EUR 83.11 bn (+11.0%).
