The Austrian Wine Marketing Board held its bi-annual Wine Summit between 28th and 31st May, 2011 with 167 participants from all over the world. Wine specialists, journalists, critics as well as select wine traders and sommeliers were invited. They were offered the choice of taking one of four promotional tours through beautiful wine-producing regions of Austria located in the provinces of Lower Austria, Burgenland, Styria and a “Newcomer” trip.

The aim of the Summit was to give the invitees the experience of what is typical of each of the wine-growing areas and its wines. This included wine tasting, walks through vineyeards, in-depth seminars, boat rides along the River Danube and the Lake Neusiedl.

There was also a culinary and cultural part of the tour where the invitees were able to enjoy traditional Austrian cuisine and cookery classes and visit some of the famous sights in the area.
