Austrian company ANDRITZ HYDRO AND ITS CSR INITIATIVES

22. August 2017

ABHI (Action for Barrier-free Handicapped Integration) is a non-profit NGO which has been functioning in Shimla since 2004, working for the rehabilitation of over 22 children with mental/physical disabilities. With no government funding for the program, ABHI though struggling for funds has however not given up its endeavor.

With its firm belief in corporate social responsibility, ANDRITZ HYDRO has been involved with ABHI since 2013 when it donated its first ambulance as a way to provide financial assistance to ferry the disabled children from their homes. However, the ambulance has since become old and there was need for a replacement.

Recently, HIN donated a new ambulance to ABHI on the 15th June 2017 in Shimla. The handing over ceremony was done by Mr. Josef Ullmer, CEO & MD and Mr. M. Anand, MD to ABHI in the presence of ABHI members.

Further, ANDRITZ HYDRO has sponsored a program in early 2017 to rehabilitate drug addicts in Thimphu for the unfortunate few. The initiative is driven by Lama Shenphen Zangpo of the Loden Foundation in Thimphu, whose primary area of work is to promote education, learning and entrepreneurship among the Bhutanese children and young adults. They also impart skills trainings to the recovering addicts so that they could lead a brighter future.

ANDRITZ HYDRO has always been committed to its firm belief in social responsibilities which goes much beyond doing “just business”.
