Strabag wins large Delhi Metro contract

Strabag awarded a contract worth 83 million Euros to build a 3.2 km long tunnel and two underground railway stations for Delhi Metro Rail Corporation

The Austrian construction company Strabag recently was awarded a contract, worth 83 million Euros, by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. Strabag is to build a 3.2 km long tunnel and two underground railway stations. The construction will be completed by its German subsidiary Dywidag International, which manages a consortium of two Indian, one Japanese and one South Korean construction company, within a time span of 38 months.
 
After building a 6.5 km long tunnel upon its market entry in 2005, this is Strabags second project in India. But the company's engagement in India doesn’t stop here. According to Strabag head Mr. Hans Peter Haselsteiner, additional contracts are also being discussed.

Strabag is not only taking an active part in India, but all over the world. They build in the United States as well as in Russia, Nepal and China, which at this point in time is being considered their most important market. With its more then 50,000 employees and a turnover of about 10 billion Euros, it can be said, that the Austrian Conglomerate is extremely successful.
