Building an Integrated Medical Complex in Nigeria

Two Austrian companies – Cemcon and Austroplan – have planned and are currently supervising the construction of the largest production plant for syringes and IV bags in Africa.

The Integrated Medical Complex in Port Harcourt will cover a total production area of 23,100 m2 and will produce 1 billion syringes and hypodermic needles, 105 million infusion giving-sets and 85 million litres of infusion solution each year. The total investment volume raised by the Rivers State Government and foreign donors amounts to 200 million Euros.

Cemcon and Austroplan have been entrusted as consultants and coordinators for this large-scale project. Their responsibilities include key plant engineering services, procurement and general project oversight, including on-site supervision of erection, commissioning and start-up. Austrian know-how and state of the art technologies have been chosen for this project. The Austrian companies GE Jenbacher, Engel Austria, Zeta Biopharma and SBM-Bosch are supplying machinery, facility management as well as the largest gas generator in Nigeria.
