Superior turbines and pipes

Sustainable energy production from hydropower requires top-class performance when it comes to technical equipment. ANDRITZ HYDRO turbines and generators are constantly setting world records with regard to performance and size.

More than 70 years' experience and over 30,000 turbines supplied with a total output of around 400,000 MW cement ANDRITZ HYDRO position as one of the world's largest providers in the hydraulic electricity generation market.

Swiss power plant Cleuson-Dixence uses ANDRITZ HYDRO Pelton turbines, which, with their capacity of 423 MW and drop height of 1,869 m, currently hold world records. The company also supplies high-performance machines for Sihwa Lake tidal power plant in South Korea, which is the largest of its kind in the world. Due to the size and transportation restrictions, the main components could only be assembled on site. With an interior diameter of 13.2 m and a height of over 16 m in the central area, the pressure pipe and pipe branch for Tarbela Dam in Pakistan is the same height as a 4-storey house. This is such an extraordinary global achievement that ANDRITZ HYDRO has even managed to get into the Guinness Book of Records.
