From 2006 to 2008 Austrian R&D expenditure has risen by around 9,4% annually.
The total amount of the Austrian Gross Expenditure on R&D (GERD) will reach 2.80% of the gross domestic product (GDP).

57% of the innovation active enterprises have also introduced innovations with environmental benefits between 2008 and 2010. These "eco-innovations" reduced soil, water, noise or air pollution from the production of goods or services within the enterprise and reduced the overall energy use as well.
