Austrian expertise in Japanese amusement parks

Tyrol-based company Sunkid has developed the world’s first portable outdoor passenger conveyor belt: the Zauberteppich®. This product has not only proven its worth in ski resorts, but also in amusement parks, at trade fairs and events and sports facilities, amongst many others.

The group’s primary commercial focus lies in the production and distribution of rides for amusement parks and resorts, small ski-lifts and cable lifts for goods, alongside the design and creation of playgrounds, theme parks and resorts.

Sunkid  is very successful in the Asian market:

In Nagano prefecture, located some 2.5 hours’ drive outside of Tokyo, Sunkid has provided Lake Shirakaba Family Land with a tower which rotates around its own vertical axis throughout its ascent, delighting viewers with a fantastic panoramic view upon reaching its Apex.

It is decorated with a fantastical design, with traditional oversized Japanese umbrellas known as Wagasas. The interactive tower boasts high capacity (up to 320 persons per hour) despite its compact footprint (with floorspace just 6 metres in diameter).

Opened in 1964 in immediate proximity to Tokyo, Yomiuri Land is one of the biggest and best known leisure and amusement parks in all of Japan, nestled into the hills of the forested landscape and offering visitors a huge variety of rides and water slides. Here, too, visitors can find a Sunkid TOWER, which is a new addition to the newly designed “Work & Factory” zone which is laid out like an office with linear and geometric triangles.
