The world's largest mobile ice rink in Gorky park

The international market leader AST built a gigantic ice labyrinth in Moscow’s Gorky Park.

AST Eis- und Solartechnik , with headquarters in Reutte, Tyrol, is a pioneer in innovation and a global world market leader for ice skating rinks based on absorption material. In Moscow’s famous Gorky Park, they created an ice landscape covering 18,000 m².

In order to get an overview of the entire construction, one would need to go up in a helicopter! A professional ice hockey court, a children’s playground, a disco area as well as skate ways and boulevards for public skating with a total length of 1,200 meters are interconnected and easily accessible. As a result, the entire network made out of real ice can be skated without any restrictions.

25 trucks transported the material and equipment to the Russian capital: ice mats, 4 laying machines, 3,000 meters of pipe, 610,000 meters of cooling hoses, 12 refrigeration machines and 3 ice maintenance machines. Within merely 5 weeks, the initial construction was complete. “This exceptionally short installation period is only possible due to our patented ice mat clip system and the laying machines we developed”,  AST manager Bernd Lechner was pleased to announce. AST has already installed 77 systems in Russia — this one is by far the biggest!

Within the past 10 years, AST has built 2,600 mobile ice skating rinks and more than 400 permanent ice skating rinks worldwide. Even cruise liners are among the various references of AST. The ice shows “Holiday on Ice”, which take place on ice made in Austria, are one of most popular shows on the cruise liner “Royal Caribbean Cruiselines”.
