Irish Rail network to be given a facelift by Austrian LINMAG

Following the successful roll-out of rail milling technology in Australia and a long-term rental agreement with Deutsche Bahn for the largest rail milling train available to date (MG31), LINMAG continues to expand its operations and has now signed a seven-year service contract with Irish Rail.

On September 27, a technology demonstration day was held in Port Laoise – a major rail junction in Ireland - to show how rail milling works are carried out in the field.

Éamonn Ballance, Chief Civil Engineer at Irish Rail and LINMAG CEO Günter Holleis welcomed Austrian Ambassador Dr Thomas Nader, Commercial Delegate Wilhelm Nest, Minister Counsellor Stephanie Winkler and numerous representatives from Irish Rail. Potential customers from Northern Ireland and the Dublin tramway operator also witnessed the smoothness of the technology and its special capabilities regarding outstanding finish quality.

Decades of research and development by affiliate company Linsinger have led to tried-and-tested technology that enables LINMAG to deliver clean, efficient rail head re-profiling in only one pass.
