8th Conference of European Regions and Cities (CERC):
23 and 24 September 2012, Grafenegg, Austria
The 8th Conference of European Regions and Cities will be held on 23rd and 24th September in Grafenegg, Lower Austria. The event will focus on the European year for active ageing and solidarity between regions. On 23rd September the Expert Forum will examine how to address this issue successfully at local and regional level. The goal is to present ideas for policymakers by highlighting best-practice examples from across the whole of Europe.
This topic will end with a Working Group exploring “Cost-efficient Healthcare and Hospital Management at Regional and Local Level”, with representatives from the private and public sectors reporting on their experiences, complemented by the assessment of independent consultants.
On 24th September renowned decision-makers from across Europe will present their solutions on how to overcome regional disparities. Furthermore, three Working Groups will address the most important economic aspects for regions and cities by discussing the following points:
- Financial Strategies for Location Development
- New Perspectives and Strategies for Decentralized Energy Supply
- Challenges in Transport Infrastructure for Regional Tourism
Successful entrepreneurs will present their ideas with the support of the evaluations and experience of specialised politicians and experts.
Attendance is free of charge for representatives of cities and regions as well as for students. The attendance fee for companies is EUR 350. The Institute of the Regions Europe (IRE) expects around 250 participants.
