On 13th November 2007 the contract between the Icelandic Company “112” and the Austrian Frequentis AG was concluded. The parties agreed on the purchase of a sophisticated coastal communication system produced by Frequentis AG.
This is another milestone for Frequentis’ Maritime subdivision. The deal involves the equipment of 30 radio stations along the Icelandic cost with very high frequency (VHF) and medium frequency (MF) radio stations as well as the central Frequentis-Switch. The Company “112” is an emergency company with three-fourths ownership of the State of Iceland, the remaining part is shared by the city Reykjavik and the state-owned energy company. The deal amounts to EUR 2,8 Mio.
On the occasion of the joint signature high-ranked business and political representatives met at the headquarters of 112 in Reykjavik : the Minister of Communication in Iceland Kristján L. Möller, the Minister of Justice and Ecclesiastical in Iceland Björn Bjarnason and the Austrian Commercial Counsellor for Iceland and Norway Adelheid Höbart.
