Austrian Exports & Imports with Jordan in 2014 at a Glance

In 2014 Austrian exports to Jordan increased by 16.3% to 69.5 Million Euro. This positive development is due to a large increase in the second half of 2014. In 2013, Austrian exports to Jordan amounted to 59.7 million Euros.

Imports from Jordan amounted to 3.2 million Euros in 2013, a 46.6% drop from the previous year. This negative trend continued throughout 2014 and Austrian imports from Jordan fell further to 2.6 million Euro. This represents a 20% decline from the previous year.

Therefore, Austria has a high trade balance surplus of approximately 66.9 million Euros for 2014.
Main export products from Austria in 2014 were measurement- and testing instruments (18.9% of the exports, or 13.2 million Euros). This export category climbed sharply by 246.3% compared to the previous year. Next in line are boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances (12.4%), pharmaceutical products, in particular pharmaceutical products for retail sale (12.1%), followed by paper/cardboard and products thereof (11.1%), vehicles (6.4%) and finally, energy drinks (5.8%).

Compared to 2013, paper/cardboard and articles thereof recorded a sharp increase in exports by 53.4%. Boilers, machinery and mechanical appliances climbed by 37%. Pharmaceutical exports slumped by 10% compared to the year 2013.

Austrian companies imported mainly clothes (40.6% of imports) and articles of jewelry and parts thereof (33.2%). In 2013 the main imports from Jordan were fertilizers; however, in 2014 these were not imported anymore.
