EU and Jordan agree on simplifying rules of origin for 52 product groups for a period of ten years

18. August 2016

The EU and Jordan have recently agreed to amend the rules of origin protocol to the EU-Jordan Association Agreement.

This will allow manufacturers in Jordan to use a more relaxed set of rules of origin for exports to the EU, according to certain pre-defined conditions that they have to meet.

The new arrangement will apply to 52 product groups for ten years and will cover a wide range of manufactured products. Furthermore, it will be available to producers in 18 specified industrial areas and development zones which employ a minimum percentage of Syrian refugees.

With this agreement, the EU takes forward the implementation of the commitment made at the London Donors Conference in February to support Jordan's resilience and job creation for Jordanians and Syrians.
