18 years ago Austria and Kazakhstan established diplomatic relations
Austrian Republic was one of the first European states acknowledged the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Kazakhstan and 19 of February 2010 our countries celebrated 18 years anniversary of diplomatic relations establishment.

Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Austrian Republic Mr. Yerzhan Kazykhanov informed the correspondent of Kazinform Agency Mr. Timur Bekturganov about the potential of Kazkakhstan-Austria relationship and their further development prospects.
Kazakhstan is the first in Central Asia and third in CIS countries (after Russia and Ukraine) trade-weighted partner for Austria. Estimations says that trade turnover between our countries has raised from 1,3 Mrd. EUR in 2008 up to 1,5 Mrd. EUR in 2009. Austria for last some years has invested into Kazakhstan's economy about 5 Mrd. EUR and is among five larges investors acting at Kazakhstan's market.
Last year was most fruitful in the respect of trade-economic cooperation – the first meeting of Kazakhstan-Austrian intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic Co-operation took place in Vienna, it was arranged large business-forum, where businessmen of both countries participated, Austrian businessmen visited Kazakhstan in December 2009. A kind of culmination of this activity was signing of Agreement on Investment Stimulation and Mutual Protection by Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries in Vienna on January 2010. More over, the Agreement about International Motor Transportation is under the preparation for signing.
