President of RK Nursultann Nazarbayev restructures the government and announces new appointments

On 12 March 2010 during a meeting on the national innovative-industrialisation plan with the government and Oblast Akims, President announced the changes in the government structure and new appointments on ministerial positions.

The Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning becomes the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. Former Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Mrs. Zhanar Aitzhanova becomes Minister of Economic Development and Trade.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade becomes the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies, and will cover power generation, mining and nuclear industry formerly controlled by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. Mr. Aset Ishekesev, former Minister of Industry and Trade, has been appointed Vice-Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and New Technologies.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources headed by Sauat Mynbaev becomes the Ministry of Oil and Gas. Mr. Mynbayev remains the Minister.
inistry of Culture and Information has been divided on Ministry of Communication and Information (responsible for mass media regulation) and Ministry of Culture. Mr.Askar Zhamagaliev, former head of Kazakhtelecom, has been appointed Minister of Communication and Information. Mr. Mukhtar Kul-Muhamed remains Minister of Culture.
