Increase of Latvian Export and Import of Foodstuff and Beverages Austria among the most important suppliers of beverages   6. December 2007

Export and import of food and agricultural products increased by almost 30% in the first nine months of 2007.   

The exports of food products, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and tobacco products has increased by 28.4 percent, according to the Latvian Statistics Office.
Except for wodka, which was mainly delivered to North America , the EU countries were the most important destination of Latvian exports.
The import of food products, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 34.9 percent. 87.8 percent of agricultural and food products were imported from EU countries.
Austria was among the most important suppliers of non-alcoholic beverages (12% of all imports), also the Austrian deliveries of wine increased by more than 50%. The third group of products with considerable imports from Austria were chocolates.
