Can an Austrian company supply soybean products to Japan? Surely not, you might think. Landgarten however has done just that and exports soya snacks to the land of the rising sun.

The Lower Austrian company Landgarten has been growing soybeans in Bruck an der Leitha since 1986 and produces a wide array of different soya snacks from these beans. Last year this family-run company succeeded in making the huge leap to Japan with its organically-farmed products. After successful entry onto the Japanese market, Landgarten is aiming to generate two percent of total revenues in the land of the rising sun this year.

In total 70% of production is exported - to 40 countries worldwide, predominantly in Europe, but also overseas, including the USA. And the soya snacks business is booming. In the first quarter alone, revenue was up by 35% on the same period last year.
