Halal certification for sausage from Moser

Moser sausage is not just any sausage - with new products and halal certification, the family-run company from Lower Austria is hoping to export to Arabic markets.

Founded in 1903, the family-run company Moser & Co. GesmbH from Wieselburg, Lower Austria, is one of the first Austrian companies to be awarded halal certification for six of its sausage products by the Islamic Information and Documentation Centre (IIDZ Austria).

The halal label makes it easy to spot the certified Moser products and removes the major guessing games for Muslim customers when shopping. Moser’s turkey sausage range is “permitted and pure” - hence "halal". In addition to halal products, the comprehensive range also offers exquisite long-life sausages, smoked delicacies and the multi-award-winning, Austrian market leader, the “black turkey sausage”. A darkly smoked and roasted sausage made of 100% turkey with just 12% fat.

The certification is currently mainly beneficial for exports to Arabic countries. In the future however, Europe could also be an interesting market: the halal food market in Europe is estimated to be worth between EUR 12 and 15 million.
