Seven speakers from highly specialised Austrian companies presented their latest technologies on biodiesel, bioethanol, solar inverters and biogas usage. Austria is one of the leading countries in Europe in environmental engineering and its companies not only successfully realized many projects in Austria itself but all over the world. As environmental issues become more and more vital and the question how to generate and use energy more burning in discussions on climate change, universities, research institutes and private companies try to find new ways of tackling these problems. This symposium intended to showcase new ideas and techniques and to broaden the knowledge of technological solutions in the field of renewable energy and biodiesel.
The interest among Malaysian officials and companies was very high. More than 90 participants registered for the symposium and had also the opportunity to inform themselves in private discussions with the Austrian speakers. The event was officiated by Dr. Anuar Abdul Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of Pusat Tenaga Malaysia , who stressed the importance of the use of renewable energy resources and of energy efficiency measures also in Malaysia . His presence demonstrated not only the eagerness of the Malaysian government to diversify its energy sources but also the importance of PTM as the leading institute in this field in research and development as well as in educating the industries and the public.
