SML to deliver CPP film line to Malaysia

6. September 2013

With already more than 20 successful Cast Polypropylene Film lines (CPP) running in Far East region,
SML MaschinengmbH, Austria, will deliver the next CPP film line to San Miguel Yamamura Plastic Films in October 2013.

San Miguel Yamamura Plastic Films (SMYPF), a joint-venture between Philippine-based San Miguel Corporation and Japan-based Nihon Yamamura Glass, has its manufacturing facilities in Melaka, 120 km south from the city of Kuala Lumpur.

CPP films will be used for many applications in flexible packaging, mainly in food packaging,
such as: lamination-, metallized- or retort pouch films.

The SMYPF line is a 3 layer-coextrusion-cast-film-line including 3 single screw extruders with an annual output capacity of 7,500 tonnes of high quality PP film. The fully automated line guarantees highest efficiency and meets economies of scale considering the high cost of production and market price sensitivity towards CPP film.

It is forecasted that the CPP film market in Asia will grow at the rate of 7.1% per annum between 2010 - 2015. With such growth, SMYPF will be able to fulfill the local and export demand with the proven technology and expertise of SML.

SML MaschinengmbH , Austria, is a leading manufacturer of Cast Film Lines, Sheet Lines, Coating Lines and Multifilament Spinning Lines.
