Semperit AG Holding: Sempermed Builds New Glove Factory in Malaysia

The Semperit Group, a leading worldwide industrial group from Austria operating in the medical and industrial sectors, is expanding production capacity at the Kamunting, Malaysia site of its Sempermed segment.
Joining Mr Thomas Fahnemann, Chief Executive Officer of Semperit AG Holding, to officiate at the ground-breaking ceremony for the new plant on 25th June 2014 were YB Dato’ Mohamad Zahir Abdul Khalid, Chairman of Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee and YBhg Dato’ Redza Rafiq, Chief Executive of Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (“NCIA”).

Sempermed produces surgical and examination gloves for medical treatments and protective gloves for industrial applications.

A total of about RM220 million (EUR 50 million) will be invested in the period 2014 – 2016 to build the new glove factory which will be located within the premises of the Kamunting plant where Semperit has been operating six production facilities for medical and protective gloves since its acquisition of Latexx Partners Berhad (“Latexx Partners”) in 2012.

The first gloves are expected to leave the production lines starting in the middle of 2015, with the entire project scheduled for completion at the end of 2016.
