Vorarlberg company Zumtobel was responsible for the LED light solutions concept of Pope Benedict XVI's newest car (the popemobile).

Attended by around 20,000 believers, it is not only the new popemobile which is lit up every Wednesday in St Peter's Square. The Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, is also bathed in lights produced by the Vorarlberg company Zumtobel . The company fitted out the new popemobile - a custom-made Mercedes-Benz (G-Class) - with the latest in LED technology. The popemobile is completely white and includes a moveable, bullet-proof glass roof.

For this construction Lexedis , an LED start up company owned by the Zumtobel Group, came up with an XED light solution with aluminium profiles and covering. In order to ensure that the vehicle enjoys an optimum brightness, along with a durable, long-lasting light solution, many hundreds of new generation nanoXED lights were used for this order.
