Doppelmayr reiterates position as world market leader in ropeway construction with spectacular project.

Whistler, in the Canadian province of British Columbia and one of the venues for the 2010 Winter Olympics, saw the opening in December of one of the world’s most spectacular gondola ropeways, built by Austrian cable car experts Doppelmayr . The ropeway between the two mountain peaks is three times the length of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Crossing the 4.4km long stretch takes the gondola eleven minutes. It can transport up to 2,050 people per hour.

Doppelmayr is the world leader for quality and technology in ropeways and funicular railways. The group operates production facilities and distribution and service sites in more than 33 countries worldwide and has so far realised over 13,700 cable car and ropeway systems for customers in more than 78 states.

Doppelmayr is also successfully positioned for transport systems in urban areas. After winning tenders for shuttle systems at Mexico City Airport and in Venice, Doppelmayr was also recently awarded the contract for the "CityCenter" system in Las Vegas.

Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH underlined its position on the world market with a 4.4% revenue increase to EUR 659 million for the year 2006/07. The company employs around 2,500 staff.
