Porr to construct the Loftesnesbrui in Sogndal

16. November 2015

Landmark project for new player on Norwegian construction market

Austrian company Porr AG, formerly acting in Norway as Bilfinger Infrastracture, was awarded the Loftesnesbrui project together with local partner KA Aurstad AS on Wednesday 11/11 at 11:11. The partners won the contract with the lowest bid out of 6 other competitors, after submitting an offer at NOK 238 million. Whilst KA Aurstad is responsible for excavation and most of the road construction on land, Porr will focus on building the bridge itself. The project’s location is the Sogndal downtown area with a lot of traffic, which makes it a very challenging task.

“It’s an exciting project and we are well prepared to accomplish it. The project is located in a central area and we will do our best to minimize problems for the community during the construction”, says Jakub Chojnacki, CFO PORR Polska Infrastructure.

After all it’s a huge project: The bridge is going to be 194 meters long, it has two foundations in the sea with a total of 28 steel piles requiring 1.250 tons of steel. Besides that, roads in three different directions have to be constructed, a new roundabout is to be built and a new land area with 40 000m³ of mass will be put up.

Bettina Gerti Gross, Head of Business Development Region Nordic at Porr AG happily comments: “The bridge will also be a new landmark in Sogndal and in addition we hope it will be a landmark for an excellent collaborative project as well.”
