The Austrian wine sector enjoyed a successful economic year in 2007. While Austrian Wine maintained its domestic dominance, wine exports reached a historical high because of the continuous increase in high-quality bottled wine exports. The bottled wine exports increased by 30 %.

The export figures confirm that Austria’s winegrowers pursue the right strategy. The Director of the Wine Marketing Board highlights the formula for success: “Austria holds the most innovative and dynamic winemakers worldwide. Now this route turns out to be fruitful.”

All-time high export revenues amount for EUR 105 Mio. which is an increase about 30 % to 2006. Particularly in the Nordic Countries the Austrian wine achieved a breakthrough. The Norwegian imports of Austrian wine gained by 60 %. In 2007 Austria exported 455.000 liters wine amounting for EUR 1,4 Mio. to Norway.
