Statoil takes a share in the UAB Mestilla

BDI BioDiesel International AG recently built the biggest biodiesel plant in the Baltic Countries for Mestilla.

Statoil has signed a letter of intent for the purchase of a 42.5% interest in UAB Mestilla. The other shareholder will be owners of Lithuanian agricultural company Linas. Linas Agro will be responsible for the raw material supply and Statoil will be the sole marketer of the biodiesel product. In that way a strong supply value chain can be established to guarantee for sustainability. Final closing of the transaction will be dependent on Lithuanian competition authority approval.

Mestilla has recently took up operation of the biggest biodiesel factory in the Baltic States which was officially opened on 8th November. The plant was built by the Austrian plant engineering and construction company BDI-BioDiesel International. The construction of the factory began in spring 2006. The capacity of the plant is over 100,000 tonnes per year which amounts to 113 Mio. litres. The overall investment for the plant was around EUR 37 Mio.
