The Austrian Oil and Gas company "OMV AG" opened office in Stavanger

Austria's largest listed industrial company moved to the oil and gas industry's capital in Norway.

 Johan Sevland, the Mayor of Stavanger, opened the new office of the OMV company in Stavanger . Jostein Soland, Managing Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Stavanger and Adelheid Höbart, Commercial Counsellor of the Austrian Embassy in Norway, congratulated the OMV team to this important step.

Peter Krois, CEO OMV Norge AS, points out the political and economic stability of Norway that makes the country to an excellent business site for the integrated oil and gas company OMV. OMV began to operate on the Norwegian market in early 2006 with a one-man office in Oslo . After one year OMV decided to move to the oil industry’s capital, Stavanger . Stavanger is a significant location within the industry and the center for networking and business activities. Within a short period of time OMV Norge AS expanded from a small-scaled office to a lively working place with 15 staff members.

The Austrian company OMV, with its’ headquarters in Vienna, is the biggest oil and gas company within the CEE-region and Austria ’s largest listed industrial company. The production capacity is about 320.000 barrel oil equivalents per day (as example: Statoil produced 1,1 mio. barrel oil equivalents on a daily basis in 2006, Hydro 550.000 barrels). OMV has 4 drilling licenses in Norway and produces also in Great Britain, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Yemen, Romania, Austria, Australia, Venezuela and New Zealand.
