OMV strengthens its exploration and production position in the core region Northwestern Europe . The Austrian company acquired the sixth exploration license on the Norwegian continental shelf by purchasing 30 % interest in exploration license PL 301CS, situated in the Norwegian Sea. The shares were bought from the Canadian company Talisman and the Danish DONG.

Helmut Langanger, OMV Executive Board member, responsible for Exploration and Production, stated: “ We are well on track to build up a strong position in Norway and seek to further this by securing additional high quality exploration acreage in the future.” OMV is the leading oil and gas group in Central Europe .
