New Zealand Prime Minister opens Doppelmayr chairlift in Rotorua

Global Austrian chairlift and gondola construction company, Doppelmayr, has recently completed another successful project in New Zealand

In 2005, the internationally renowned firm, Doppelmayr, constructed an 8-person gondola in the centre of New Zealands's north island. This gondola takes visitors from the edge of Rotorua city to the Skyline Skyrides leisure park on Mt Ngongotaha. 

Following the success of the Skyline project, Doppelmayer was commissioned to build a fixed 2-seat chairlift for the luge operating in the leisure park. Chairlift operations started in the middle of August 2008.

The official opening was a an important occasion in Rotorua district construction projects, attracting the attendance of New Zealand prime minister John Key on 12 March 2009. The opening was conducted by the Prime Minister along with Ms Andrea Doppelmayr, family representative from the Doppelmayer Seilbahn company.
