Project Para Kore wins the National Energy Globe Award New Zealand 2016

12 August 2016

Our Consul General, Karl Hartleb, was proud to hand over the National Energy Globe Award New Zealand 2016 to the Para Kore project. Jacqui Forbes, Project Manager at Para Kore, as well as her colleagues were present to receive the award.

Para Kore, which means Zero Waste in Maori, targets the marae, the traditional meeting houses in New Zealand, to work towards zero waste by 2020. Para Kore has made remarkable progress towards this goal, working with over 90 marae across the country and having diverted over 100 tons of waste from landfills through recycling and composting by providing knowledge and developing waste minimalisation systems.

The Energy Globe Foundation is based in Austria and awards today’s most prestigious environmental awards to projects and initiatives worldwide which conserve and protect our resources or which employ renewable energy.
