Federal Minister Berlakovich meet executives in Doha

Alongside the official country visit of the Austrian Minister of Environment & Agriculture to attend the Climate conference in Doha, Advantage Austria Office Doha (Austrian Embassy – Commercial Section) took benefit of this visit to organize a program for the Minister Nikolaus Berlakovich and his delegation to get an impression of the Qatari market in terms of environmental development.

The day started at the Qatar Statistics Authority, where H.E. Sheikh Hamad Bin Jabor bin Jassim Al Thani received the Minister and his delegation together with Mr. Gerd Bommer, Commercial Counsellor at the Advantage Austria Office Doha, throughout the meeting they discussed general environmental issues and possible cooperation that includes a know-how transfer in the presence of the Austrian statistics expert Michael Nagy who has been working at QSA for the past half year. Additionally H.E. Sheikh Hamad spoke briefly about the 2022 FIFA World Cup, in which he is a member of the organizing committee.



The Minister also visited the offices of Innovations Unlimited ME, which was co-founded by two Austrians, Markus Jordan and Ulf Six, to learn more about the company's activity in supporting the sustainability objectives of Qatar. Innovations Unlimited explained their partnerships with prominent Austrian companies like KIOTO Photovoltaics, Sonnenkraft and ertex solar. The meeting also involved sharing of ideas on how Innovations Unlimited ME can expand relationships with the Austrian green industry with the support of the Austrian government to leverage their longstanding expertise in the implementation of green technologies

Finally, the program continued through professional talks concerning potential cooperation with the officials of the Gulf Research & Development Organization. GORD is responsible for standards in the areas of energy and resource efficiency and environmentally friendly construction and sustainable aspects of city development in Qatar.
