Record level of R&D expenditures

According to the latest Austrian Research and Technology Report 2014 published by Statistics Austria,total expenditures for research and development in Austria this year will rise to about EUR 9.32 billion, an increase of 2.7% compared to 2013. EUR 3.61 billion or 38.7% is provided by public funds.

Statistics Austria expects R&D expenditures on the part of the private sector to climb by 3.59% in 2014. Gross R&D expenditures will likely comprise about 2.88% of GDP. In 2012 Austria will already ranked fifth in a EU comparison behind Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany.
