Healthcare and medical tourism in the GCC

The Austrian Federal Chamber of Commerce in co-operation with the Austrian Ministry of Economy is financing and organizing annual industry export initiatives. One of the foci in 2010 is the health tourism in the GCC countries and its potential for Austrian health providers.  

The Austrian Trade Commission compiled in the first quarter of 2010 a report on the outgoing health tourism in the GCC countries. The results and forecast of the potential were staggering. The study was presented on the 5th of May 2010 in Vienna. The work of course is ongoing. The Austrian Trade Commission will organize a fact finding mission for the interested Austrian companies by end of the year. A lot of work will have to be done in Austria and here locally. Austria has an excellent reputation and is well received in every aspect, but has missed so far to find its way into the high competitive market of the health tourism here. A
