BERNARD Ingenieure to battle Riyadh road problems  

Riyadh, capital city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: In conjunction with a population increase from 4.5 to 7.4 million, the volume of traffic is exptected to more than double by 2020.

The concurrently reduce congestion and improve the city's air quality, consultants are developing new traffic concepts, with the aim of: "Getting from a city which is planned around its centre towards a structure with several traffic junctions in order to improve use of land as well as interaction in terms of transportation."

This requires a ccordinated development strategy for private vehicles and an urban public transportation system. Beyond these requirements, special attention is paid to urban landscaping. The Austrian BERNARD Group will carry out a thorough analysis of the traffic situation in Riyadh, present feasible solutions and help prepare the related bidding documents.
