The most important red-white-red export products are sausages, cheese, energy drinks, soft drinks, iced tea and delicacies like cakes and pastries.

There is a growing demand for food and drinks from Austria. Total agricultural exports from Austria increased by 5.4% last year (projected figures based on the first three quarters) and therefore exceeded 7 billion euros for the first time. The most important market for Austria remains Germany, where an export increase of 7.8% was achieved. There is a high demand in Germany for milk and dairy products from Austria, along with increasing demand for sausages in recent years.

After Germany, Austria's most important countries for agricultural exports are Italy, USA and Slovenia. Agricultural foreign trade with the new EU members including Bulgaria and Romania rose particularly sharply, by 14.9%. In addition to sausages and cheese, Austria's most important food and drink exports include energy drinks, soft drinks, iced tea, Austrian confectionery and Austrian sweet delicacies such as pastries and cakes.
