Business Opportunities Seminar with the African Development Bank Vienna, June 19, 2008

The Austrian Foreign Trade Organization, together with the Oesterreichische Kontrollbank AG and the African Development Bank, will hold a specialized business opportunities seminar on Africa on June 19, 2008 in Vienna.

The Austrian Foreign Trade Organization, together with the Oesterreichische Kontrollbank AG and the African Development Bank, organizes a specialized business opportunities seminar on Africa which will be held on June 19, 2008 in Vienna. The seminar will inform participating Austrian companies on business opportunities with the African Development Bank and on the new acquisition regulations.

The event will focus on following sectors:
- infrastructure, transport (by road, railway, water, and air)
- renewable energy and environment protection
- water and wastewater
- agriculture, rural development, and forestry

In 2007, the African Development Bank (Austria being a joint partner) had an overall budget of 4 billion USD at its disposal. Payments in 2007 increased by one third and reached 2.6 billion USD. Besides financing projects, the African Development Bank offers loans, grants, and warranties.

The African Development Bank is mainly aiming at promoting economic development and social progress in Africa by financing investment projects and programs. Cross-national projects have priority. The bank concentrates on three sectors: development of the private sector, agriculture and rural development, development of human resources.
