Elmia Wood 2017

20. June 2017

The world’s leading trade fair for forestry technology

Austria was well represented at the fair offering an impressive array of forestry machines from among others MM Forsttechnik, Neuson Forest, Konrad Forsttechnik and Koller Forststechnik.

Yet not only well known big companies like the ones mentioned above were present, but also smaller innovative businesses like Ecoforst, specializing in environmentally friendly forestry techniques and Festmeter with their specially made devices for detecting bugs in trees.

The slogan “Advantage Austria” proved to be right in more than one way at this year’s Elmia Fair. The crane manufacturer Palfinger has developed a crane boom that was not to be seen on the company’s own forestry machines but on Swedish crane manufacturer Rottne´s as well, taking advantage of this technology from Austria.

Heavy rain made this year’s Elmia Wood a muddy affair. This however did not stop us from visiting this to date biggest forestry fair in the world. Also the Austrian exhibitors were pleased with the outcome of the fair and are already planning for their participation at the next Elmia Wood in four years.

The Elmia Wood takes place every fourth year in the big forests surrounding the city of Jönköping. 2017 more than 550 exhibitors from five continents had put their latest forestry machines and equipment on display.
