In the footsteps of wooden architecture in the Vorarlberg region

From the 20 – 22 October 2015 40 architects, building owners, universities etc. from Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway visited the region of Vorarlberg to take advantage of the latest technology in wood construction and energy-efficient building. The region has a long tradition of timber construction and techniques which have been modernized and adapted to our times. Among the companies visited included Oa.sys Baut GmbH, Kaufmann Zimmerei, Cree GmbH and Zumtobel. In a bright and beautiful autumn weather the group visited as well interesting wooden buildings such as Sicherheitszentrum Bezau, Life Cycle Tower One, IZM Illwerke Zentrum Montafon. The study visits were interspersed with various events, networking dinners and presentations where the Nordics and Austrians had the opportunity to discuss and exchange experiences.

The study trip ended with a visit to Bregenz by the Lake of Constance to admire the architecture of the Vorarlberg museum and the Kunsthaus Bregenz.
