Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group to build new "Jewel Ride" Austrian company chosen to overhaul the Sentosa Cable Car

Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group, the world leader in ropeway engineering, was chosen, together with CWA Constructions SA/Corp, by Mount Faber Leisure Group to replace the existing Sentosa cable car system .
Renamed "Jewel Rides" the system will comprise 93 cabins carrying 8 passengers each, increasing the number of passengers per hour from currently 1800 to 2800. The existing bi-cable system will be changed for a mono-cable with a total lenght of 1720m. Some of the greater challenges of the overhaul include fitting the new ropeway in the existing terminal buildings, the assembly and pulling of the ropes because of The Jewl Box's unique location and the max. height elevation of the existing midway Pulau-Selegu Tower from its current 90m above seal level to 115m. The "Jewel Ride" will start operation in the first quarter of 2010.
The Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group has production facilities and sales and service locations in over 30 countries of the world and to date has built almost 14.000 installations in 80 countries.
